Call for Auditions
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Announcing auditions for Epping Community Theater's 2026 Halloween Old Time Radio production "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Auditions for this production are open to anyone aged 16 and up.
Based on Washington Irving's classic short story, this production will follow the adventures of Ichabod Crane, a young man who innocently moves to the seemingly peaceful village of Sleepy Hollow, unaware of the local legend surrounding the mysterious and terrifying Headless Horseman, which is rumored to haunt the otherwise picturesque community.
Many actors will be needed to fill the numerous roles in this production, which will include the various residents of Sleepy Hollow, as well as the Narrators and actors who will perform the Radio Show's commercials throughout the show.
As this is an Old Time Radio production, where actors perform the show vocally as though they are performing an old-fashioned radio broadcast, every actor will have their script onstage with them during performances, and no one will be required to memorize lines.
Auditions will be held at Watson Academy on Wednesday, August 26th from 6pm-9pm and Sunday, August 30th from 4pm-7pm.

Auditioners may come on the day of the auditions without making an appointment, but will have to wait until the next available slot, which may not be for quite a while after they arrive.
Auditioners will be asked to do some cold readings from the script. No need to prepare anything in advance, but please make sure that you are ready to do a variety of different voices at your audition, as the many different characters in this show will require a wide range of character voices.
Rehearsals will be held every Wednesday at Watson Academy from 7-9pm starting on Wednesday, September 2nd.

Tech rehearsals will be held from 7-9:30pm at the Epping Playhouse on:
Monday October 5th, Wednesday October 7th, Monday October 12th and Wednesday October 14th.
The performances will be held at the Epping Playhouse on Friday October 16th at 7:00pm and Sunday October 18th at 2:00pm.
Anyone cast in the show will be asked to contribute a $30 production fee.
PLEASE NOTE: Having rehearsal conflicts does not mean that an auditioner will not be cast. A small number of reasonable conflicts can be worked around. Please go over your schedules and list any and all conflicts that you know of on your audition form, and please feel free to reach out via e-mail if you have any questions.
